Oldest-Known Footage of US Blizzard Shows NYC, Shot By Edison Co.

Here, via SmithsonianMag.com, is a terrific historical find: the very first time a blizzard was caught on film in the United States:

This film footage is so old it was shot by Thomas Edison's film studio, the Edison Manufacturing Company. It's from 1902, and the scenes were shot at the intersection of Broadway, Fifth Avenue and 23rd Street, where we'd see the Flatiron building today (but not then).
